It all happened on a Friday.
I woke up not so early, and I had one little thing to do - go to Warner Cable to get a new cable box. I'd decided to go at noon, so I would have lots of time to eat, get ready, and avoid the morning traffic.
Dyna called and invited me over, so I was gonna go to Warner Cable place and then to Dyna's. I got ready and grabbed the old cable box, my laptop, my keys, my purse and tried to managed to carry it to the car all at once without dropping anything (so proud of myself)! So I opened the trunk using my little keychain-remote-control-thingy and I put my laptop and the cable box in there, and then I closed the trunk. I put my hands in my purse to look for the car keys again, so I can get in the car - but apparently the laptop and the cable box were not the only things I put in my trunk... WHERE ARE MY KEYS?
It looks like they fell from my wildly opened purse, and obviously enough, they fell in my trunk instead of falling on the floor, where I would easily get to them! We, of course, don't have a spare key for this car. I calmly called David, so he could suggest what to do... Following his "instructions" I called AAA and they told me a locksmith would be there in 45 minutes. Oh well...
Luckily I keep my home keys separated from my car keys, so I was able to get in my apartment. I decided to take the puppies for a walk, and sure enough, when I got to the sidewalk, locksmith guy called my cell saying he was in front of my garage gate! Anyways... So, I was glad it took him only a few minutes to get there, so I texted Dyna saying "I'll be there in 30min". Uhm... I didn't know it, but I was so lying.
So, the locksmith guy opens the door of my car, the alarm starts screaming and when it stops, I get in it so I can find the trunk latch and open the trunk and get my keys, right? WRONG! Because the alarm went off, it blocked EVERYTHING on the car - including the backseat. So, I can't open the trunk using the latch and I can't get to the trunk moving the backseat and the locksmith guy tells me he has no idea what to do next and leaves (very helpful guy). Great!
I call AAA again and tell them my story, so they say they will send another locksmith person, someone who is a specialized locksmith person (aren't they all supposed to be specialized?), so the person can use the trunk key hole to open the trunk. "Just wait 30min". Awesome!! I hang up the phone and this time I sit in my car and wait there... and then I realize... the trunk of my car doesn't have a keyhole! So, I call AAA and a new lady helps me, so there I go telling her my story (for the 3rd time, with more details each call) and she calls the locksmith person and calls me back saying the person can't help, but the locksmith MAN will come and help - but it will cost $100!!!!!!! I mean, at this point of the situation, what am I supposed to do, right?!? Soooo 30min later the locksmith man comes with a van that has a tiny mini-office inside, he reset the alarm system of the car, he makes a key so we can open the door without the alarm going off, so I can finally use the trunk latch to open the trunk - and 3 hours and $100 dollars later I finally have my keys back!!
What I learned about my trunk? It's probably the safest place to keep stuff. Unless a specialized locksmith man with an "office van" tries, not even a locksmith guy can get to my trunk! (uhm that didn't sound right)

WOW! What a story. You seem to have kept very cool through all this! Hooray for you!! This is a lesson to all of us to be vigilant about where we put our keys.
Love,
I am glad things turned out the way they did. =)
I would give you a hard time except that I have done the same thing... Just not in the Infiniti... But now we know to always put our valuables in the trunk of that car and not leave them inside the cab. =)
até mais...
D
oh... wow. that's insane. i am so sorry!! Glad you got it all sorted out.
hahaha this story looks so.. YOU!
i enjoyed a lot reading it!!!
b-byye!! =P
Arrgh that absolutely sounds like something that would happen to me!! Only difference is, I would have locked the house keys in the trunk too, because I keep them all on the same key chain. Hmm.. gave me something to think about. Maybe I should keep them separated too.. :)
Haha, sometimes shit like that happens. It pisses me off, but it makes me laugh afterwards.
I wish I had good story telling skills like you. I could picture this material on a TV sitcom. There will go! Why not trying a career as a writer? :)
